A: The Bible says that suffering teaches us to be obedient. This is why we suffer for our wrongdoing. It is correction that ideally leads to the saving of our souls. Innocent people suffer because we allow it. God has given us a personal will and dominion over the earth. He allows us to enact laws, decisions and behaviors for or against each other. Because of this exercise of our freewill (which no one wants to give up) to not love, not serve, not educate and not pray for others, innocent people suffer. It is up to us to be the
Hands of God. When we refuse to relieve suffering, then God's mercy takes our place in someone's life. The Bible says that when we have mercy, mercy is shown to us. Have you loved, had mercy, served, educated, prayed for or given to someone today? Have you allowed suffering today?
